Often Cessna 172 Models L and M are missing the air filter shroud assembly. We believe this is an important part that should not be overlooked. When the seal is left out during assembly the bottom of the cowling will pressurize. This will reduce the pressure differential between the upper and lower cowling. We have experienced an improvement of 10ºF to 15ºF in the CHTs.
Due to the location and vibration this induction seal is prone to cracking. Dynamic Propeller has developed a replacement bracket from a stronger composite material designed to last longer than the original plastic part.
The recently updated carburetor airbox induction seal now has an improvement incorporated to the flange that allows for a much easier installation.
